Book review #3: The Last Mrs Parrish

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5)

You might enjoy it too! (especially if you’re post nights 😴)

Amber Patterson is a con-artist who befriends the innocent and unsuspecting Daphne Parrish, aiming to steal her handsome and wealthy entrepreneur husband.

This novel is divided into three parts, the first third is Amber’s point of view, the second is Daphne’s and the third is a combination of them both. I didn’t know this as I read it but apparently it was a collaboration between 2 writers (Liv Constantine is the pen name of sisters; Lynne and Valerie Constantine.)!

I loved that its fast paced overall but the first few chapters were slightly unbearable.

Too much details on the different designer brands and the bourgeoisie lifestyle of the top 1%. I didn’t quite like how the writer tells us directly about the characters with no build up whatsoever. The second part has a much better storytelling although predictable.

The story is pretty simple, with an easy writing and a slight twist that we all expected. Despite that, I liked it (maybe not the ending I’d wanted, but still..) – perhaps because I read it after an intense week of night shifts?
